The building work has started!

On Sunday 7th July Churchwarden Charles Dodd gave the announcement we had been waiting for. Work on the building extension was to start on 8th July, which indeed it has.

Charles explained what is known and what is not yet known about this journey for St Barnabas’ Church. He called for patience and cooperation over the coming months. For example, says Derek, limited parking will give priority to the disabled, infirm and elderly. Fit and healthy 75 year olds can park at the Technical School next door :-).

The contract has 20th September as completion date. Charles led us in prayer with words of Sir Francis Drake:

“Lord God, when you call your servants to endeavour any great matter, grant us also to know that it is not the beginning, but the continuing of the same, until it be thoroughly finished, which yields the true glory; through him who, for the finishing of your work, laid down his life for us, our Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Amen.”

Please also pray for the safety, health and protection of those working on the church through the heat of summer.

Love in Christ,

Derek
