This latest update on the planned Christian Musical Mission to Cyprus comes from Revd Simon Holloway, the chaplain at Christ Church Ayia Napa .
As many in the diocese, and particularly those in Cyprus, will be aware the Cyprus Musical Mission, led by Roger Jones and a team from Christian Musical Mission from Birmingham, is planned for 14-25 November 2013. In addition to performances of “Two Sisters and a Funeral” there will be a number of seminars and workshops at various locations. Click the button below to download the latest full update.
Some of the choirs have already started rehearsals (such as St Andrew’s in Kyrenia) but most will start in the next few weeks.
We are most thankful for those who have given generously so far towards this mission and pray for the rest of the money needed to come in soon. Do pray that our applications for sponsorship and/or grants will be successful or that God will open up other ways of providing for us.
In a couple of places there has been a change of plan from a full scale musical to a Worship Seminar and an Testimony evening called ‘An Audience with Devon Brown’ (Baritone – Lazarus Soloist). This is something that Roger Jones has done in UK several times with Devon and it has been most fruitful and encouraging. Some of the songs from Two Sisters and a Funeral will be included.
In particular, pray for wisdom about the venue for the Final Night for the Combined Choirs concert. We have made a provisional booking at the Royal Hall, but I have a hunch that it might be too big and costly (it can seat up to 700 and costs 1,200 Euros). Pray that we are guided to the right venue at the right cost and size for the evening of Sunday 24 November.
You can hear the music online on the Christian Musical Mission website (www.cmm.org.uk) or search iTunes for ‘Two Sisters and a Funeral’ – the story of Lazarus, Mary and Martha.
Thank you for praying and giving, and we look forward to a great week in November.
Simon Holloway
